1969 Susan "Sadie" Atkins was for involvement in the brutal murder of Schauspielrin pregnant Sharon Tate, was sentenced the wife of director Roman Polanski, and six other people in death. The death sentences were later commuted to life imprisonment.
Atkins was one of ardent followers of serial killer Charles Manson, one of the most notorious prisoners in the U.S. since March 1989 and incarcerated in California state prison in Corcoran (Kings County).
In the first years of their incarceration Susan was still loyal to Charles Manson and his confused ideologies. Over the years she distanced herself from the family and turned to extremely religious Christian faiths.
They caused a stir in 1980 when she married in prison, the alleged Texas multimillionaire Donald Lee Laisure. The turned out to be a marriage swindler and had already 35 marriages behind him.
